Application Information and Form
Applications are required for immersion and intensive workshops

Book Publishing and Book Editing are based on an immersion model of teaching. They start at 8:30 and 9 am respectively, and run until 10:30 pm with breaks for coffee and meals. For those who wish to apply for more than one immersion workshop, please note there is no break between workshops.
Book Design Intensive, Digital Strategy: Editors' Intensive, and Digital Strategy: Designers' Intensive are based on the intensive model of teaching. They begin at 9 am and end between 6 pm and 9 pm each evening.
1. The application form must be accompanied by a non-refundable $30 CDN processing fee (cheque, credit card, or money order) payable to Simon Fraser University.
2. Program Directors will begin to review applications to the immersion workshops on Monday, May 10, 2010. After that date, applications for immersion workshops will continue to be accepted until the week before each workshop begins and, if necessary, waiting lists will be maintained.
3. Applicants who submit their applications before the first review date of Monday, May 10, 2010, will be notified of their acceptance status beginning Tuesday, May 18, 2010. Applicants who submit their applications after the first review date of May 10, 2010, will be notified within 10 days of receipt of their application as to their acceptance status.
4. To hold a seat, accepted applicants in Book Editing and/or Book Publishing must submit a $200 CDN deposit per workshop. This deposit must be received by SFU within two weeks of acceptance to the workshop and will be deducted from the workshop fee.
5. The balance of the workshop fee must be received at least four weeks before the start of the workshop or the seat will be offered to an applicant on the waiting list. If a qualified applicant is not available to fill the seat, the deposit will not be refunded. (Please see cancellation policy)
All immersion workshops are non-residential and require participants to arrange for their own accommodations and meals. (See information on Accommodations and Travel).
Book Publishing and Book Editing
Applicants to the Book Publishing and Book Editing workshops must submit the following items:
1. A completed application form.

2. A current résumé, including education and work history.
3. Answers to the following points typed, double spaced, on 8.5 x 11 paper with your name on each page:
• List your current job title and write a brief description of your duties. If you are not currently employed, please outline your career interests.
• Write a brief essay (500 words or less) outlining your primary interests and skills in publishing and why you want to take the workshop(s) for which you are applying.
• Please indicate your computer skills (beginner, intermediate, advanced, hacker) by describing the type of work you produce on your computer and the software used.
•List the names, titles, addresses, and phone numbers of three references.
Note: Reference letters are not required
Book Design Intensive
All applicants to the Book Design Intensive workshop must submit the following items:
1. A completed application form.

4. Submit a 6–8 page pdf of recent design work to pubworks@sfu.ca.
Digital Strategy: Editors' Intensive and Digital Strategy: Designers' Intensive
All applicants to the Digital Strategy: Editors' Intensive and Digital Strategy: Designers' Intensive workshops must submit the following items:
1. A completed application form.

(a) List your current job title and write a brief description of your duties. If you are not currently employed, please outline your career interests.
